West Arnhem Land JV

Deposits in this region belong to the unconformity-related class of uranium deposits which include some of the largest and richest uranium deposits in the world. This deposit style is characterised by mineralisation associated with major unconformities separating overlying sandstone dominated sedimentary units from the underlying crystalline basement units. Basement lithologies may contain graphitic schists and carbonate bearing metamorphic rocks.

Research by Uranium Equities Ltd has also identified the Mt Evelyn area as having the potential for significant primary gold-platinum-palladium-uranium mineralisation associated with brecciation, faulting and silica/clay alteration zones above the unconformity within the Katherine River Group sediments. This style of target is similar to the Westmoreland (QLD) uranium deposits and some of the Athabasca Basin (Canada) deposits.

The mineralisation style is in addition to the traditional unconformity related uranium mineralisation, with gold and PGE credits, at or below the unconformable contact between Katherine River Group sediments and the basement Pine Creek lithologies at depth.

The mineralisation model proposed for the West Arnhem Land region by Uranium Equities Limited is presented as Figure 3. Regionally significant structures within the tenement package could also potentially fault the prospective unconformable contact to shallow depths.

West Arnhem JV with Cameco

Nabarlek JV Project ( 40% Uranium Equities; 60% Cameco)

The Nabarlek JV Project area immediately surrounds the Nabarlek Mining Lease and has been the focus of past exploration. Much of the early work is poorly documented and there have been significant advances in exploration technology and processes since this work was completed.

Widespread alteration and anomalous uranium was identified at several prospects while concealed mineralisation has not been a target in work undertaken prior to 1993 and a majority of this tenement has not been explored since this time.
