E51/1066, E52/1902 & E52/1903 are three granted licenses comprising the Moorarie Project, 100km northwest of Meekatharra in the Murchison Mineral field in West Australia. The area covers a total of 574km2 . Independence Group NL currently holds 100% of the tenements with a joint venture agreement where Uranium Equities Ltd can earn a 60% interest in the project with the expenditure of $1m over 3 years.
The region was initially targeted by the Independence Group for its nickel and iron ore potential. High intensity magnetic features were observed from regional TMI data, which possibly relate to underlying ultramafic or oxide-facies BIF units.
Minor subcropping granitic gneiss and BIF lithologies outcrop within the region. The area is mapped as predominantly sheet wash plains and alluvial cover associated with the Yalgar and Murchison River drainages. Some outcrops of calcrete are also found within the drainages.
There appears to be no previous exploration in the immediate vicinity of Moorarie for uranium.
